I have a very difficult time creating in a random improv or abstract way.  I love a lot of what I see out there, and I have tried many, many times to just randomly pull pieces and sew them together and I. JUST. CAN'T. The thought of it being loosely random freaks me out.  Sooooo, what can I do to work with my love of Symmetry.

I took a class from a well know Improv Quilter a couple of years ago and the biggest take away from that was to create smaller segments in different shapes and sizes and then take the time to lay those out to where they work.  For me, controlled chaos....and it worked. 

I have created two art quilts so far and have a few others in the works.  Learning how to create abstractly but with purpose made so much sense.
