We bought a used RV just 5 days before we were heading out on our Pacific Northwest Vacay. That wasn't what I had planned for. That wasn't even on my radar. We bought a 1999 Winnebago Rialta with 54,000 original miles on it.
What are we thinking. I still had full intentions of loading up the truck, but the hubbs said - no, we are taking the RV. Ahhhhh - OK.....we haven't really tested her out. We had no idea how everything worked, but we packed her up and off we went - fingers crossed!
For a 25 year old vehicle, she is in really good shape. With high hopes, we loaded her up and off we went.
We made it past Mount Shasta, past Medford, where we stayed the night - At a Rest Area...seriously. I did not sleep. But, i did sprain my ankle...yay me! On to our next stop, Mt. Hood. We stayed at an RV Resort for a couple of nights. It was so quiet and the weather was great. We found a few trails that took us to a river. Dot loved going out for the walks...lots and lots of walks! Hubs loved that they had a good sized pool where he swam first thing in the morning before anyone else was up.
Anacortes here we come! The weather was a bit dicey as we drove I-5 past Tacoma and Seattle and the roads - ah gawd - were AWEFUL!!!! But we made it! To the cozy little cabin we had rented for 9 glorious days. The views were spectacular!
The first couple of days we just hung out - I think we turned the TV on once, maybe twice, but only for a few minutes. Hubs did a lot of reading and I brought along an EPP quilt that I had been working on for years. I did a lot of hand sewing when I wasn't staring out the window. Hubs did jump into the water for a quick swim. I sat at the top of the stairs and watched...
We had a couple of gray, cool days, where we just hung out, hubs read and I worked on my quilt. It was so relaxing and it felt so good to unwind! Made a little progress on my Octo Nova.
We witnessed a few nights with the full moon rising over Skagit Bay. It was so gorgeous and a few stunning sunrises, along with a couple of white out (socked in with fog) mornings. Overall, we had some pretty amazing weather.
We took the ferry to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island and spent the day checking the cute little town out, Had one of the BEST Rueben sandwiches EVER - from the little deli in town. We jsut hung out. No big plans, no big adventures, just hung out.
